Friends of Lepta

We are about to celebrate our first year as Lepta on 1^st July 2007. Lepta has been in existence for longer than that but it is on first July 2006 the key foundation was laid and we consider that our birth date. Our first year has been incredible. We have grown and continue to grow and mature more and more into what we are supposed to be. One thing for sure God has been with us in a most amazing way. As we end our first year some key changes have been taking place. We are working on moving to a new office that we have already identified but need resources to take up, new leaders and strategic partnerships are emerging and the direction we are to take for the next year is becoming clearer. We ask you join us in praying for this while thanking God for how far He has brought us.

Even as we move forward another thing is happening. Darkness and fear is increasing in Mathare mainly because of the Mungiki. Our friends from other countries may not be clear on what is happening but in the past few weeks the Mungiki have committed a series of horrific killings in different parts of the country. Just last night two police men were shot dead, last week houses were burnt to the ground in Mathare. While Mungiki are not killing young men are stealing increasing the desperation of the people. After the police moved through Mathare after the officers were shot about 20 people were left dead while there are allegations that a woman was raped. This serves to release great fear among the people. Yet we are confident that we can stop this and the tide can turn. For a long time Mungiki used to be just a Mathare issue but now it has the attention of the whole nation. The police cannot stop this on their own and we need to take our position and pray. We have experienced the power of prayer and we know that if we pray God will hear us. Of that we are certain. From today till the end of the 30^th of June, the eve of our anniversary, we invite you to join us and pray for at least five minutes daily for Mathare and for Lepta. If we could get just 12 people praying for Mathare and Lepta daily that will be one hour of prayer. If we could get a 100 that will be at least 6 hours of prayer. We will be coordinating the prayer from our blogspot which is lepta.blogspot.com and through this email address. Please log on to the blogspot for weekly updates. Feel free to add your comments.

Our prayer is that

- The mungiki will completely be wiped out and will be no more.

- Fear and crime will be dispelled and not take root in Mathare.

- Lepta and other works that God is doing in Mathare will be firmly established according to the perfect will of God.

Please share whatever comes in your heart during this time of prayer so that we can collectively act on it. We must once again say that we have the confidence that when we pray God hears and as you join us in praying God will also answer your personal prayers. We expect testimonies during this time and God to speak to us.

We invite you to share anything God lays on your heart, any individual prayer requests that you would want others to pray for and anything that God does in your life during the next few weeks as we all pray.
