Lepta Programmes

The Esther’s programme
This is a leadership programme that is specifically geared towards girls. The Esther’s are girls that we are working with to develop as leaders that will reach the highest levels of influence and play a key role in transforming Mathare. We have already begun investing in their lives strategically by educating them, exposing them to a new way of thinking and tapping and developing their capacities.

Lepta Schools
This initiative seeks to use education as a key tool to empowering the people of Mathare. Under Lepta Schools we have begun working with a group of university students who offer government recognized alternative education by allowing students of all ages to pursue primary and secondary education. The uniqueness of the programme is that it offers very affordable education during the evening allowing school drops outs to “work and learn.” Lepta is also working towards setting up a library and information centre to make reading material more accessible to both primary, secondary, college students and the community.

The Recreation Factory
This is a “factory” that has set out to develop and manage youths and children enabling them to tap into their potential in artist areas such of music, drama, hairdressing, graphic design, etc. We desire to help them identify, nurture and maximize their talents.
